Bloomington Updates:

In preparation for our move in early 2024, we’ve made some significant changes, including revising our communication system and tuition collection process. Though our families are familiar with Lillio (HiMama), we will be transitioning to Brightwheel to streamline all aspects of communication, billing, and more. We will be sharing more details about this transition.

Staff

At Bloom&Blossom Daycare, we are thrilled to announce that all staff members will be involved in the expansion of our daycare center in Bloomington. To accommodate this expansion, some of our teachers will be taking on new roles, which means we will be hiring new teachers. Our hiring process involves a thorough background check and training on our core values to ensure that all new staff members are fully equipped to provide quality care and education to our children.

We are proud to offer nutritious meals and snacks that are prepared in-house by our trained chefs. We believe that these changes will enhance the overall experience for our families, as we strive to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for our little ones. We look forward to sharing more updates with everyone as we embark on this exciting journey.

Curriculum

Regarding our curriculum, we remain dedicated to our play-based approach with aspects of traditional curriculum. Nevertheless, as our students grow and their cognitive abilities advance, we have found it beneficial to introduce a formal circle time. During this period, we engage in discussions and activities that are geared towards Kindergarten preparation. This includes, but not limited to alphabet/number knowledge, fine motor skills (writing, handling scissors, drawing) and reading. Recently, we’ve enrolled in a research-based program aligned with the NAEYC standards that will assist us in meeting our goals. This curriculum provides hands-on experiences tailored to each stage while maintaining our play-based approach. It Is also partnered with Brightwheel where we will share observations, documentation and photos. We will formally Introduce this curriculum starting December 1st. We will also have details regarding the area of development and activities so you may continue the learning at home.

A few families have been entertaining the thought of toilet learning and thought we should discuss it more in this month’s newsletter. As you read further you’ll get an idea of what this process will entail. Our goal is not only to help children become comfortable with and aware of peeing/pooping in the potty, but also an enjoyable one. We have witnessed children that were absolutely traumatized by the potty due to their introduction and never want that for any other child or parent. This is a primary reason why we followed the child’s lead when we first mentioned the potty to the children. From observation we found that your child could be ready to start toilet learning!

We thought about the best way to begin this journey and found that three factors make a huge impact. First, how to begin? Morgan has assisted with toilet learning in the past and found an efficient way to share those discoveries via a course. This course is offered by Big Little Feelings and is amazing as they have videos that can also be listened to. These videos speak about every step of the toilet learning process and have downloads that are printable for reminders. This course is extremely helpful as it refreshed our memory and highly resonated

with the methods we learned six years ago. Information about your child’s readiness and the course is located at below (click on the website). Another vital factor is where the child starts their journey. It is highly recommended the child be in the comfort of

their home with the person they are thoroughly comfortable with, YOU!

With this course you will have all you need and more. But if you find yourself stuck at any step of the process please don’t hesitate to call Morgan for immediate advice or guidance. At Bloom&Blossom we promise to continue with the method and terminology you began at home. This brings us to the third factor, check-ins. Check-ins are extremely important because in order to prevent confusion and unnecessary meltdowns during this process we should be on one accord. When we are clear on the language, methods and troubles we are all able to be confident during this process. When your family is ready to begin please let us know and we can schedule a call to discuss the next steps.

We are so excited for another development and accomplishment for the books. We look forward to working with you on this exciting yet complex journey.
